Drawing
My mature drawing style emerged during a Covid art Zoom in 2020 when I discovered the vibrancy of marker on photo paper. This hearkens to my plein air works, and both have been influenced more by my background & interest in decorative & fiber arts, especially Art Nouveau, than by formal training as a painter. In drawing and painting, I prefer to work non-traditionally to convey the energy & spirit of being in the captive moment rather than depict an exact likeness or romanticized feeling of place.
I also engage in illustration and public art projects whenever I get the chance, building upon this style with its bold linework and bright colors. These projects have included artworks for children’s & fantasy books, coloring pages & projects, game design graphics & storyboarding, and mural work.
