Menstrual Art
I began exploring menstruation as an offshoot of my gender identity works and even organized a traveling group show based on the theme, after my Menstruation Series drew such attention at Venus Envy in St. Louis, MO in 2007. I continue to make art about menstruation, reproductive health, and women’s and LGBTQ rights in order to bring this taboo topic into the light and help demystify this bodily function. These works span 2-D, 3-D, costume, video, and installation based explorations and many of my more recent projects have focused on garnering donations of feminine hygiene products for homeless shelters and food pantries to distribute to those in need.
Please be aware: Some of these works are suggestive in nature and/or may include materials that some would find offensive.
